The purpose of this document is to provide information regarding the basic principles and the structure of the Italian “Classificazione Nazionale Dispositivi medici” (CND). In March 2019, and according to the criteria set out by the Medical Device Coordination Group1 (MDCG), the CND was selected as the basis for the future European Medical Device Nomenclature (EMDN). The EMDN will support the functioning of EUDAMED as stated by the MDCG and in accordance with Articles 23 of Regulation (EU) 2017/745 – MDR and Regulation (EU) 2017/746.

MDSS uses the CND code on a daily basis since we perform the notification in Italy for our clients. It is a sophisticated system but our consultants love the structure and indeed like working with it!
As always it is a matter of understanding the system!
